Description: Created by Kathleen Siddons, a highly certified Connecticut state language teacher, Anacleta's Spanish and world language links are designed to orient students and parents to the Spanish language and related cultures. The section begins with an introduction to the site; it was compiled to give students and parents access to high-quality internet resources used by Ms. Siddons. All included sites are aimed at children under the age of ten. Not all of the sites are about Spanish, although a good number of them are related to learning the language. The best part about this site is that each included link comes with a complete description of the site's content, making it extremely easy to find links that best suit each individual student. Kids will find a link entitled "Parents and Children," which will take them to a collection of useful sites. Under the heading "Learning a New Language" there are several sites for Spanish language learners, as well as for the Japanese and Italian languages. The section entitled "World Cultures" is also helpful because it allows students to specifically select Spanish-speaking nations. All of the links included under this section are worth exploration. Instructors will also find their own section, in which they have the ability to choose between pointers for teaching as well as links to resources. The pointers section describes all of the activities and games used by Ms. Siddons in her own classes. Most of the games will keep children highly entertained and, perhaps mpre importantly, will maintain their interest in Spanish. Most instructors will also find the resources helpful. Resources are presented under a variety of headings, making them especially useful for bilingual classroom teachers. |
