Asuka Historical Museum
Description:
This Website will be an excellent resource for older learners to learn about Japanese history and culture. Featuring the Asuka Period (542-645), the site provides a comprehensive introduction to the history, architecture, art, and literature in the period. The site is divided into seven sections: Asuka Period, The Asuka Palaces, Asuka Stones, Asuka Kofun (burial mounds), Takamatsuzuka Kofun, The Asuka Temples, and Asuka and the Man'yoshu (The Ten Thousand Leaves). These sections contain an extensive collection of photos of the historical remains of palaces and temples, wall paintings inside the burial mounds, and other types of art in the period. The Asuka and Man'yoshu section contains seventeen poems from Man'yoshu with English translations. The site is also available in Japanese. Created by Asuka Historical Museum.
