Bienvenido a México
Description:
Bienvenido a México, a bilingual site designed by teachers at Snaith Primary School, is a complete unit on the Aztec civilization. The site, available in both Spanish and English, has ten lessons covering all aspects of Aztec culture. Lessons are aimed at elementary level students, and offer a good opportunity to cover many cultural topics in the context of the Spanish language. The lessons cover who the Aztecs were, their religion, architecture, every life, experience under the Spanish and Cortes, their music, dance, and the status of contemporary Aztec culture. There is a section of Teacher Notes to accompany the lesson, supplementary activities, historical notes, and worksheets. Most documents can be downloaded and read in Microsoft Word. The site also contains many photos and a map to accompany and/or be integrated into the lesson. In the Enlgish version, a number of quizzes are ready-made to test students on their new knowledge of the Aztec world. Quizzes are interactive and can be immediately checked by the website. To successfully complete this unit, students need to have a working knowledge of the preterit and imperfect tenses.
