Description: A fantastic exhibit about a painful topic, but one with a happy ending. This resource offers enduring lessons in the hardships suffered by the Jews over the course of World War Two and Canada's role in accepting many of those other countries chose to turn away. Specifically, this exhibit highlights the stories of some 1200 displaced Jewish children admitted into Canada after the war. Not an easy journey to begin, the children were at first rejected by the Canadians who had accepted them. Only after successive appeals to public kindness was the resistance against these young castaways broken and overcome. Read here the touching stories behind the stories (of those who helped, and were helped) and what they came to mean to all involved. |
